PROTEST AGAINST SUSTENANCE KATES.
A meeting has been arranged for tho large Town Hall this-evening for the purpose of protesting against ■ the present sustenance ..--rates'; for- uncni- ! ployed workers. Speeches -will, .be delivered in support of the. Bill, introduced in the House of Representatives by Mr. D. Q. Sullivan, ■ M.P., ■' -which provides for the payment o£ the sustenance rates specified in the original Unemployment Act. Mr. P. Eraser, M.P., will preside, and the speakers will bo Mr. D. G. Sullivan, M.P., Mr. R. Semple, M.P., and Messrs. Brooks, "Webb, and Sergent, of the Belief Workers' Union. Some startling facts in regarcLto the allocation of subsidies by the Unemployment • Board will be mentioned by Mr.' Semple and other speakers. The doors will be. opened at 7 o'clock, ana the meeting will commence at 8. A silver collection will l>» taken to defray expenses.
Lack of space at the British Museum is a serious difficulty. Only one-fourth of the Egyptian relics can be put on show at one time.
