BIAS AGAINST EX-SOLDIERS

CHRISTCHUECH, This Day
Tho; chairman of the Railways Board, Mr. H. H. Sterling, takes exception to an allegation that ex-sbldicrs, because of war service disabilities, arc being denied promotion'in the'railway'service.
. Mr. Sterling said that the suggestion that there was bias against cxsoldiers was entirely incorrect. The policy of the Department whenever possible was to give consideration to returned men if they .were fit for any position, and, all things being equal, even to give them preference.
