SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.

Pressure is still rather low in the Jar north, but has risen generally, and by this morning a slight anticyclone had crossod -, the .South Island. Except in the western half of the South Island, whore it has been fine, tho woather has boen unsettled and vory cold, occasional showers accompanying the moderate to strong southerly winds which have prevailed. In the Hawke's Bay and Gisborne districts there has been heavy rain in places, while some of the. ranges and also, parts of the low lovels of the South Island have had snow. The southerly" has blown with gale force at places -In and north of Cook Strait, but by this morning it had moderate considerably.
