OBITUARY
MR. SAMUEL READ
The death occurred this morning of Mr. Samuel Bead, at the ago of. 85 years. Born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, he followed the occupation of painter and decorator throughout his life. At the age of 25, in 1874, lip came to New Zealand in the ship Star of India and settled in Wellington. lie lived later at Nelson and then Palmorston North. He displayed an interest' in local affairs and technical education, and was a member of the Foxton Borough Council and the Foxton School Committee. He is survived by Mrs. Bead (nee Sarah Jane Furness) and six sons, Messrs. Harold (Foxton), Fred (Ashhurst), Horace . (New .Plymouth), and Victor, Louis, and Percy Read, of "Wellington and odd daughter, Mrs. W. H. Martin, of Khandallah. The funeral will leave .for the Kn.rori Cemetery at 10,130 a .in, tomorrow.
