Sussex went close to an outright,win over Middlesex, but had to accept defeat on the first innings. The Yorkshire-Lancashire match. was decided on the first innings iv Yo-.kshire's favour. Good individual "■, , performances were fairly plentiful' Iddon, Pope, Hardstaff, "Arnold, and. Harris made centuries. Allen was ia fine form with the ball for Middlesex, ' as was Tate for 'Sussex. Allen took" eight wickets in the first innings and / five in the second, and Tate took four in each innings. Marriott also had a good bowling double. , Tho results were:— ' . . .
