POLISH MINERS IN FRENCH PIT

("Received August 8, 1 p.m.) PARIS, August 7.
Eesouting the dismissal of two compatriots for participation in a Communist demonstration,- two Iraiidred Polish minors at the Escharpolle pit smashed tho ventilation and lighting systems, disconnected tho cages, and imprisoned themselves at the 900 ft level, holding a number -of ■■■French miners as hostages. Fears are expressed as to their safety through waut of air, but it is hoped that lack of food and water will terminato sucli folly.
