With an income for the year of £436,279, the National Provident Fund at December 31 last stood at £3,756,980, which represents an improvement of £255,430 on the position at the end of tho previous year. '
Contributors, who totalled 24,949, paid in £220,848, and £162,184 was earned in interest. Benefits paid out amounted to £205,723. Tho rate of interest earned was £4 11s 5d per cent., and the expenses of administration regarding ordinary ■ contributions were at the rate of 19.33 per cent, of contributions.
