RICCARTON NOTES
(Special to the "Evenins Post.") OHBISTCHUBCH, This Day. Conditions were favourable for training work at Biecarton this morning. So far as galloping on the flat was concerned, there was nothing worth noting. Pace work on the sand was the chief order. A few horses jumped, but tho results ivpre decidedly mixed. Don Jose started to jump six hurdles, Meeting Glance joining in at the third. The pair jumped two together well, but at tho next Don Jose crashed, leaving Fleeting Glance to finish alone. Don Jose rolled over his^ rider (G. Barr), who was severely shaken, and damaged his shoulder, though no bones were broken, so his injuries are not expected to be serious. The horsie is very lame, and looks definitely out of racing for some time.
Eoyal Limond, Cargcn, and Invictus finished as named after, a fast school over four hurdles, all jumping Well. Boyal Limond is a greatly-improved horse. Cargen also pleased. Transact gave a good display of fast jumping over. ten hurdles, but hit the last, when probably tiring. The hunter Snowy Dawn went once round tho fences on the course proper, jumping safely. Valpocn, Rational 11, Punehestown, and Quinopal started together for a round of the Grand National fences. They jumped the sod wall and post and rails well. Punehestown baulked at the first Kennels double, when Rational II tried to run off, going into the- wing and losing his rider. "Valpeen and jQuinopal went 'on' till Quinopal \ fell heavily at the big brush at the top of the'straight. Th& rider (G. Dempster) received a shaking and- injury to the shoulder, though nothing was broken. Valpeen completed the round alone, jumping all right, though appearing to blunder slightly at the carriage paddock fence. Punehestown was. tauten. t>ack and jumped the Kennels double and the 'rest of the fences of the round"safely^
Free Air, who. pricked:a foot,.a few days ago, is making a good recovery. This horse will not be. an acceptor for the Steeplechase, but is intended to run in tho Grand National Hurdles, and will probably bo sehpoled over tho hurdles tomorrow. •
Billy Boy did useful work on the sand track. He lias recovered from his' mishap and looks well. Brigadore, who has been idle since arriving, owing to damaging a knee, is much better, and aid light work. . Bay Tree, a'fancied Winter Cup candidate, is expected to t arrive tomorrow. . "'.;.■■
Thurina, who Avas not worked this morning, continues to show tenderness in one leg, due to a splint, but is hoped to b"e all right for the Grand National, L. J. Ellis will ride Silver Streak in tho Winter Cup.
