CREWS AT WESTPORT

WESTPOKT, August 6. The crews of the Union Company* vessels Karetu, Kiwitea, and Karma, the Anchor Company's Alexander, an 4 tho Westport Coal Company's Canopus, held a combined meeting yesterday. After a lengthy discussion- it was de» cided not to take the ships to se* until further advice was. received from headquarters at Wellington. Tho Canopus: has been held up by bad weather since Friday, but the crew are implicated in the'hold-up, and refused later calls. The Karotu and Karma were ready to sail this evening, but as a result of a meeting their crews did not respond to calls: Th» Kiwitea has been ready since Satur* day, but her crew likewise would: nbtj take her out.
