HITLER'S DECLARATION

WILL NOT FIGHT AGAIN

EXCEPT IN SELF-DEFENCE

NO QUARREL WITH ENGLAND

United Press Association—By Jilectric Tclosraph—Copyright. BERLIN, August 6. "If it rests with Germany, war will not come again. We will never fight again except in self-defence. We will never come into conflict with England on the Rhine or elsewhere unless England attacks us," said Hcrr Hitler, in the course of a statement to Mr. G. Ward Price, the "Daily Mail" special correspondent. Mr. Pries Bays: "I had an hour's conversation, not an interview, in which the world's most powerful statesman answered all my questions without previous knowledge of them." "Germany," said Herr Hitler, "has a more profound impression than any country of war's evils. Germany's problems cannot bo sottled by war, but are limited to what other nations regard as their most elementary rights. We only ask for tho maintenance of the present frontiers." Alluding to Mr. Baldwin's statement about Britain's frontier being' tho 'Rhine, Herr Hitler said: "There may be som© French statesmen who declare that France must be defended on tho Oder, and Eussia on tho Danube, therefore Germany can hardly be reproached for seeking national protection within her own frontier. "We want nothing from England. I would not sacrifice a single German to get back any colony in the world. Wo know the former German colonios in Africa are costly luxuries, even for England. "Britain's increased air fleet does not cause Germany the slightest resentment, and tho expansion of her fleet does not concern us, because we do not intend to attack you. Our present steps, including our own air fleet, are because powerful foes surround us, and may some day make unacceptable demands. "Wo shall not attack Austria, but cannot prevent Austrians seeking to restore their ancient connection with Germany. I feel certain that if a secret ballot election were held in Austria the whole matter would be cleared jup." Herr Hitler added that his combined office would remain until a national vote removed the basis of the present Government.
