DRILL AND DANCING

GIRLS' COLLEGE DISPLAY

A display of drill and .dancing will be given by the pupils of Wellington Girls' College in the Town Hall on August 15. This entertainment has been arranged round an attractive and original theme. Tho programme will bo an illustration of a story called "The Land of Rhythm." Tho idea is given out that the "King of Carasovia" is so gratified that the "Spirit of Health" has bestowed her priceless gift on his baby daughter that ho spreads the message of good health far and wide .throughout his kingdom. Groat emphasis is laid on physical training in all departments of the national life, army, navy, schools, and health clubs specially established for adults. Greek deportment is taught as well, and everybody in the "kingdom" practises some form of health culture, until tho whole kingdom becomes a land of rhythm.

The cast of characters will be as follows:—King Yoloff, Miss Gwenneth Bearsjey; Queen Marise, • Miss ; Gwynnotti. Moore; Princess Elanda, Joan Eaine;' Minister of Physical Training, Wynsome Takle; Spirit of Health, Ecca Anderson.

. The programme includes • dancing, skating, Swedish drill, marching, Greek deppi-tmerit exercises, and signalling. About two hundred performers have been trained by Mrs. Baylor. iThe school orchestra, under thei conductorship of Miss Henry-, will provide the music. The ladies' auxiliary of the Parents' Association will have a sweets ■ stall. The proceeds are. in aid of school funds.
