LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION
\t the meeting of the Dominion council of'the Lca"iie of Nations Union a few days a«-o it was decided to hold the annual conference at Wellington, in the first week ot September. It is expected that delegates horn all parts of New Zealand will 1)0 present. Reports from branches showed a di-eided increase in membership, particularly in the large centres, Auckland liaviu"-" added 200 new members to its roll within the last three months. Tho new branch at Taurangn was congratulated on its membership, which is now about 100. iln extendiiiß good wishes to tho >je\v Zealand delegation to the \\ omens J. anPacific Conference, the council expressed |a hope that the conference would pasa a I resolution calling on the Governments of the States from whom delegations were sent to use the League of Nations more effectively in the cause of world disarmament and world peace. The council decided, as has been its custom in recent years, to donate essay prizes to the Government Correspondence School, for which purpose two talks on the League of Nations will be broadcast by a member ot the Dominion council. The treasurer's statement showed that the finances of the council were in a sound condition.
