SIR J. SIMON'S DECLARATION
LONDON, August -1. fih John Simon, Foreign Secretary, has issued a denial of statements that he is Jewish, and allegations that his! ancestry has influenced.. his iioreigu | policy for the National Government. Sir John Simon emphasised that he had not denied the rumours earlier, as they might have been distorted into evidence that he.sympathises with antiSemitism. ■ "I have Jewish friends whose patriotic services should shame critics,''he said. "I would not for worlds hurt their feelings or write as though their ancient and honourable lineage could possibly bo a matter of reproach."
