LEADERS SCORE WELL

INSTITUTE CHAMPIONS

IN FIRST B DIVISION

Continual heavy rain on Saturday afternoon resulted in kick-and-run tactics in local Soccer matches, and scores were mostly large on the winning sides. There were no surprise results.

Murist and Hospital had easy victories over Diamond and Waterside respectively, thereby retaining- their positions as leaders in tho first A division championship with 19 points each, Petone still have a chance to beat them, as the suburban team has two more games to play and is only three points behind. Swifts scored an easy win over Nada and Lower Hutt were paired with Petone in a bye.

Institute Old Boys and Technical Old Boys met' on No. 2 ground at the Sasin Jxcserve in' the final match of tho first B division clininnioiisliip, and the result, a 1-1 draw, gives the championship to Institute, who'.have been two points ahead of-Technical.'for. .son*? weeks. .The game was keenly contested, and the score was a fair representation of the run of the play. There cau be no gainsaying Institute's claim to the championship, the eleven having never been beaten this season, but having had two drawn games.

The knock-out competition for the Victory Cup starts in the B division next Saturday.
