ST. JAMES' LOWER HUTT

The memorial service at St. James's Church, Lower Hutt, was conducted'by the viear, tho Eev. H. E. K. Fry. "How little, did .ho-think, or did wo think, when Archdeacon Johnson, a few weeks ago, was expounding the 10th chapter of St. John and preaching that last sermon of his hero, that in so short "a tirno wo should bo thinking of him as ono of tho good shepherds now entered into their rest," said Mr. Fry. Archdeacon Johnson, said tho preacher, was essentially a scholar, a wonderfully gifted and talented man: Not only was ho one of the most erudite Hebrew and classical scholars in New Zealand, but he was one of the tbest loved of the clergy. His passing was indeed a most serious loss not only to the Hutt parish, where he had always been so ready and anxious to help, but in Wellington and throughout tho church at large. , ,
