HUTT VALLEY R.S.A.
NEW CLUB ROOMS
On Saturday, just twenty years after the outbreak of hostilities, the Hutt Valley branch of the E.S.A. commenced operations on their new clubrooma in premises situated over Liebezeit's Novelty Stores, High Street, Lower Hutt. A clubroom has been the desire of the branch for many years, and the generosity of Mr. G. A. Liebezeit and a few other supporters lias made this possible. A small working bee, consisting mostly of carpenters, commenced to lay the dance floor o£ the lwge social room on Saturday afternoon. The area of the social room is approximately 50ft-by 40ft, and when finished it will compare favourably with any other dance floor in the Valley. There are also a secretary's office, com-rnittee-room, cloakrooms', and kitchen. The social committee of the branch and the executive are anxious that these rooms should be of a permanent nature. Social functions have been held for some considerable time, particularly in Petone, where most of the money up to the present has been raised. The financial success ot these functions will determine the sucess or failure of the latest enterprise of the Hutt Valley branch, which, .it is iolt, carries the'best wishes of the residents of the district. The "Diggers" "have still a long way. to go before they get the clubrooms furnished, but well-wishers have already promised .several articles of furniture. A second-hand . billiard table has been promised, but the accessoriesi have yet to be provided. A piano and radio set nre the two articles which are causing the most concern.
