The Riccarton trainer F. D. Jones's two Australian apprentices A. /Russell and H. Mackinnon will, be' going across to Sydney- on■■'Saturday,':when -Jones leaves with ■ Nightly, Shatter, The Masquerader, Two No Trumps, Custodian, and Abdication, It will be their first trip, back- to their •homeland-since they came to New Zealand four years ago.
If present intentions are adhered ro, Russell, after a few weeks in Sydney, will return to Ghristchurch to resume race riding here. Mackinnon. is likely to remain longer. During the past season Russell was the most successful apprentics .in New Zealand, riding 20 winners. . •
