TRIALS FOR FRANKLIN
Some schooling was done at Ellerslie on Saturday morning by horses with engagements at the Franklin Meeting next ■Saturday.- .The ytrack -was' heavy.: Ruling King (J. Burgess) ■■].': was schooled over four' .hurdles -in' the centre. He dwelt slightly at: the first, but afterwards jumped quickly and cleanly. ' ' Tenakoe ,(T. Williams) cleared a couple of pony hurdles safely and afterwards, in company with Golden Wedding (J. Burgess) and Grant's Opal (J. Sharkey), negotiated "four big ones) all giving a good display, especially Golden Wedding and Grant's:; Opal.r v ,~~~ ■ Am'png useful gallops the best were probably -those of Imamint, Barograph, Town Beauty, Jalldy Karoj i Sololhon. and Versani. . .. . , Imamint was first out and after running her first furlong in 12 2-ssec, completed half' a' mile in 53sec. She had a fanamount of pace on when she jumped away, but her performance was-! a good one. Gay Broney and Barograph were allotted a six-furlong task and after running the first: three; in 42 l-ssec, completed the gallop in Imin •25 drSsec. Both shaped well,^especially Barograph, who has made good progress during the , last month;; Town ;Beauty worked over a "round and six; furlongs, completing the last circuit in linin 56 3-ssec. This jumper is in good fettle for his engagement in the Franklin Steenles. Jalldj^Karo aijd Solomon, after running their first two furlongs in 2G 2-osec, got to the Vend of five furlongs in Imin 5 4-5 sec. Jalldy Earo, who had a slight advantage at the finish, is working much better than he has done for some time. - Versant, with-his trainer in the saddle, completed a round in Imin 45 3-ssec. Ho ran the last six furlongs - in. Imin 22 4r5 sec, and the final half-mile in, 55sec. On Parade w:ent with him over the latter 'dis* tance, and was right up at the finish.
