McLeod '(Government, ■ Wairarapa) said that the proposals now before '■ the House were similar to the proposals which had been adopted in this country since its early history. They aimed to give. extreme preference to Britain. There were many today who thought that that was a wrong policy to pursue. He was strongly of the opinion that there was not an appreciation -iii- -Britain, itself of what this country had attempted to do for Britain.
