CATTLE FOR CHINA
SAFE ARRIVAL AT SHANGHAI
Messrs. Dalgety ahaV 'Company, Limifed. who recently shipped 24S head of dairy cattle. to Shanghai> have -received the following cablegram from their agents:— Winifred Moller and personnel arrived sately 14th. Only seven cattle died throughout through excessive heat close to destination.; stock. landed excellent condition: housing arrangements and attendance proved very satisfactory; ample fodder." Remembering' that July is one of the hottest .months of the year in the East the death rate on a/voyage of 22 days partly through trq^icalheat, must be considered most satisfactory.'- : Five expert cattlemen- went with '■ the 'shipment and with extra assistance provided by the crew the cattle should h.ave- lacked nothing in attendance and careful feeding. ■ The unloading ot the shipment at Shanghai would no doubt prove of great interest to many. The voyage was completed in excellent time (22 days) and the old s.s. Katoa renamed the Winifred Moller must have averaged close on 10& knots.
