Hubert Oppernian, the noted Australian cyclist, 'is attempting to break the Land's End-John o' Groats cycling record. •.He left Land's End:at 7. a.m. and reached. Worcester at .8.40 p.m., having covered 225 of the 866 miles in twelve hours. He is maintaining astounding speed and, barring accidents, is assured of. a new world's record for twenty-four hours.
