EXAMINATION FEES
(To the Editor.) i
Sir,—Once again the ■ .time < for the payment of entry, fees foivthe aeeonntancy examination has come and gone. No attempt has been made'to reduce the fees in. any; way or .to give any encouragement- tp students who are struggling against financial as well as other, difficulties. At the present time there is more demand for' qualified men, but it is> beepming increasingly difficult for young, students to "make the grade." I intend to sit for\three snbjects this year, and the'total fees payable are two, guineas. If, however, I should fail and sit for 'the same examination''next year I will be: required to pay ; a further two guineas. The margin of marks between.pass and failure is at .times} bo r narrow ithaV it seems almost : impossibi^.:foriioh-techni-cai subjects to be;mai;ke,cl/s.<>' finely;: One or two marks often means a year's sfiidy practically wasted.and as already stated a further payment,:of .fees.—l am, etc., ,'.•:; r■ ■■ : ;>:'' •-'";■ ' -;■'■
