BREAKER BAY COURSE
Two laps of the Breaker Bay Cutting routei a o£ .22 miles, comprised the course for the Poneke Amateur Cycling Club. .The. winner, of the race was W. DoidKe and fastest time was macie by' I{. Arvidson off the.scratch mark.
The scratch, riders. It. Arvidson, F. Blackett, and W. Lasky, conceded starts uiv to 14 minutes. ; At the end. of the fust lap the leaders were Percival and Hamsay, with Mather (11) and MeHauh (11), 30 seconds behind. Then came W. Doidge , (0) and Huxford, who were 2% minutes behind the leaders. Rose (7) was next. His co-marker, Abel, had punctured, leaving, him to ride a lone race. W. Bailey (6), C. Sparks (5), R. Greiggs (3%), L. Walsh (3%), passed through 5 minutes 18 seconds behind the leaders. Greiggs and Walsh, had ridden brilliantly to this stage. Huston, J. Barnsley, M. Thompson (2)i. had lost 47: seconds to the scratch trio, who were riding- very steadily.:.; .- .'. ;. . ■"'. '.■'.■.■" ' '• ■'
Changes took' place on the second circuit, the whole field, rapidly closing 'up. Doidge, Huxford, and McHardy -were in charge, at Point Halswell,' and kept ahead to the finish, Doidge proving 'too strong when it came to the sprint. He won by a. clear length, with McHardy second, just ahead of Huxford. A. J. Percival was fourth, 30 seconds later, with L. Walsh, oft" 3% minutes, nest in, less than a minute later than the winner. Sparkes (3%) and D. Rose (7) were with him, and finished in that order. J. Mather (11). was 16 seconds later, with R. ■ Greiggs (3%) getting in just ahead of the scratch men and 2-minute riders. ■'■; Houston (2) headed this bunch in a very fine sprint. He was a length ahead of R. Arvidsbn (scr), W. Lasky .(scr),F. Bkckett (ser), and. M.: Thomas (2). The -race was a credit to the handicappiug of-Mr. M. Matson, as the whole fieldsiinished within two 'minutes.'- . .
