UNIVERSITY CLUB
An invitation run provided a'good afternoon's entertainment- for the. University Harrier Club. The runners assembled at Weir House, and after the run .were the guests of Mrs. F. Ness, Aurora Terace, foiafternoon tea.
The tryl-layers began the trail'at'the top of the cable car. The. course led along
Upland Road to Northland, gassed through the tunrieliand crossed the viaduct. Except for a slfort climb at the beginning the trail had been fairly level, but from this point onwards there was a steady upgrade along the road • leading from Karori to Wadestown. At Wadestown the trail left the road andsascended Tinakori Hill, the runliers ■ henceforward...' taking their, -own course back to Weir House. The stiff climb up to the ridge of the hill was made more tricky by the fact that a considerable amount of gorse had to be negotiated, but once the ridge was reached, there was a straightforward downhill run home. Three packs started off and 'ran togothcr. as packs as fai-r nsv Tinakori Hill, where it was a case of each man for himself. Some came home through Northland, others down the Jliei and through the Botanical Gardens. King and MeGee ran well the whole way, and arrived home with the trail layers: ■■ - .The club captain, D. Viggers, thanked the hostess for her kindness. Next week a handicap race is to be held at Lyall Bay. : "■,.■-.■.
