AUSTRALIAN WOOL EXPORTS.
From July V to' Slay 31 shipments of wool from the . .Commonwealth totalled 2,690,730 bales,' the total showing1 a decrease of 239,403 bales compared with the similar period o£ last season. . Shipments to that quarter for the eleven months show a decrease of 184,423 bales. ■ The German figures display an increase of 40^48 bales, and the Belgian total an increase of 49,253 bales. The effects of Japanese competition on activity in the mills in India is indicated by the falling-off in shipments to Indian ports. With' the' imposition of a tariff, manufacturing has expanded in Canada, and the quantity of wool taken by that country exhibited- an increase of 3189 bales.
