In a review of'the activities of St. John Ambulance Association during the past year, the annual report, to be presented at a meeting of the organisation tonight, shows that 28 first aid, 23 nursing, and one junior hygiene classes have been completed and examined (an increase on last year of 8 first aid and 15 home nursing classes); 582 candidates qualified, 88 obtained voucher arid medallion. Approximately 85 per cent, of ■ the candidates joined the brigade as active members. The Wellington Automobile Club, the Police Department, the Railway .Department, the Wellington Boys' College/ and the City Traffic Department also held successful classes in first aid, and arrangements have been made for these to bo continued in the forthcoming year.. First aiders are "taken ; for granted" at every public function,;but the sooner the public are educated' to the fact that the work is done voluntarily arid not for payment, the sooner will they realise what a'debt of gratitude, they owe to'first aiders. Tlie Mayor, who is president of the Wellington Centre,.will..preside at the meeting. .. •'..:. ■- ' ."'
