4» Mr. David Sutcliffe, a retired schoolmaster, of Hackney, whose will revealed that ho left £55,000 when he died, at the ago of 83, last January, lived alone for 30 years in a ten-roomed Georgian house in Amhurst Road, in East London. Next door, his sister occupied a similar house until her death a few years ago. Neither had any callers, and they seldom spoke to neighbours. Just before last Christmas a neighbour'discovered that Mr. Sutcliffe was very ill and was lying on a bundle of rags on the floor. He would-not have a doctor.. .The .room where ho slept was. filled with books.
