POSTAGE STAMPS
NEW BRITISH ISSUE

• Next August Britain will have a new issue of postage stamps beginning with the penny arid three-halfpenny stamps, tho .remaining denominations being made available at intervals of a few weeks.
•This announcement was made by the Postmaster-General, Sir Kingsley Wood, at Cambridge today. He said the new stamps would havo minor changes in design and tho colours would be richer. They were being printed by the photogravure process by Messrs. Harrison, of London.
England, was the* first country to issue adhesive stamps, and post offices throughout Britain, now sell about 20,000,000 daily. During the last year British post offices received, sorted, and delivered 100,000,000 more letters than in the previous year. .
