X t, Jamieson had high hopes of winning four races at Eosohill last Satuiday^ but had to be content with just half that numbci, Poiestij and Upoko Anki"- being successful. As1 often happens on the Tuif, the best bet of the foui; Sipal, was a losing one. Tho twojeaiold, as a winner earlier but a loser on piotcst, was fortunato to be in a. maiden handicap, and except ±oi bad luck he would certainly ha\e won. He was almost down just aftei tho stait duo to mteifoience, and when attempting to make up his ground later was in continual trouble. Even then ho managed to reach thud, place.

In tho next event, a se\rn fuilong tnal at fixed weights, the biothei to Paniandiunij Upoko Anki, showed real gamencss to win. At the turn ho went lather i\ide and his strongest ad\eisaiy, Wmawan, took a shoit cut on the tails, making sevcial lengths' advantage. Upoko Anki, vigorously ridden, came on again and iust won, evening up the losing wageis on Sipal. Forestry's success in the Eosehill Handicap was the easiest of the day. Although; last in the James Barnes Plate a week earlier at Handwick, it was expected that the firm Eosehill track;woiild; suit; him, for it was.seen that he floundered, about in the shifty going at headquarters. He was always near the front, took charge three furlongs from home, and won pulling up.

High Degree was the other failure,- in. a seven-furlong welter. He had every chance in the straight, but curled up under pressure and finished fourth.

At .Victoria Park on Wednesday Jamieson started Grand Duke, who was at very fair double-figure- odds. This two-year-old, who is by Grand Knight from Coeoanut, was soon in front but failed in a desperate finish with the inueh-improved < Mitebite. Grand Duke should soon be on the .winning list at one of the minor meetings. \
