'•"'■"' ,_ DTCNEDIN, May 30. -At the annrial: meeting of the Otago Patriotic and • Welfare Association, wMch.hasbeen in existence for twenty years, the chairman, said it was a matter for. regret that there were more claims ,on their funds now than they had experienced.in* the past, as these indicated an increasing amount of distress./ The sum of £4302 had been contributed directly to; men in distress, making a total of' £179,921, which the association had given, directly, either through, grants or goods, to the men for whom themoney •was-Taised.
