ESPERANTO ASSOCIATION

At a meeting of the standing committee of the New Zealand Espeianto Association, held in Wellington recently, it was decided to approach the principals of the various secondary colleges in Wellington with a view to obtaining permission for N.Z.E.A. officials to address the respective staffs in regard to Esperanto. It was reported that two new clubs had been founded at Wanganui and Palmerston Noith tLis year; and it was agreed that eilorts be made to establish new clubs at Hamilton, Dargaville, and Whangarei, where numbers of Esperantists are now in residence. ' The committee also empowered the.secretary to collaborate with the Palmerston North Club in the matter of arranging suitable dates for the sixth New Zealand E&pcianto Congre^, which is to-bo-held.'there. After a discussion, it was agreed to, ascertain whether Esperanto teaching still forms a plank of the Labour Party's platfoim, »nnd approval was given ■ for. a donation to be made to the Univeisal Espemnto Association in recognition of 'the inclusion of particulars of the N.Z.E.A. in ,the U.E.A. year book. The secretary (Mr. W. H.- King) reported that the association's membership showed a satisfactory improvement numerically, and that the donations already received this year exceeded by three times those for last ,year.
