BRITISH MUSIC SOCIETY
The string group of the British Music, Society ; met last evening at the studio Off Miss Yalerife Corliss (honorary organiser for Hew Zealand)" for the purpose of inaugurating the new season, and of introducing Mr. ■ Eric'Meier as leader of the group in succession to Mr: and Mrs. H.: Tombs, who have left fosr a. trip'td 'England.
{A happy; and informal atmosphere prevailed!, and during the evening Miss CorEas: spoke of the principles of the groups; and! .their- practical aims, with special: reference to the string group. Mr. Meier gave an interesting talk on cbamKer -mnsic, and plans were then formulated for future group meetings. The;. programme consisted, of the Han:de'l"Sionata in A Major" for violin and piano, played by Prue Lewis and>; Arthuir Keldhouse; the Beethoven "Quartet, an F Major," by Mr. and Mrs, Meier, Ormi Keid, and Mr. -Thompy son-j .-"'ceHo solos, "Menuett"(Glnck) and "Madrigal" (Squire), by Joan -Maunder, . and the Schumann "Papillons,.' r by'Eileen Eoaehe.' '
