NO AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Advice was received from the Australian Soccer Football Association at the meeting of the council of the N.Z. Football Association last evening, over which Mr. B. L. Salmon presided, that the Australian States had decided that a tour of New Zealand by an Australian team this, season would be impossible unless a definite offer was forthcoming from New Zealand. As New Zealand had already made an offer of half the net "gate," which apparently was not acceptable to Australia; there will be no tour this season. An official statement of the position is to be issued by the council of the New Zealand Football Association.

The council also decided that it would take no action in the suggestion that a representative team from Suva should make a tour in New Zealand.

. "Most of the associations seem to be against it, and we will probably have to abandon it," said' the' secretary (Mr. Alf Williams) in reference to the proposed tour of Australia by a New Zealand primary schools' eleven. The. Auckland Association wrote favouring the tour and offering to guarantee £20 of the cost of it, but the Wanganui Association expressed the opinion that the tour was not advisable in view of the economic stress.

The entry of the Nomads (Canterbury) team in. the Chatham Cup competition was accepted.

. Of the 1206 boys who left the aided and maintained secondary schools of Kent during the twelve months which ended July 31 ■ last only 91 were recorded as seeking employment on October 31. Of the 861 girls only G7 were seeking employment. ' . *
