ORGAN RECITAL.
An organ recital 'given last night by Mr. W. Lawrence Haggitt, ;F.-T.C.L., L.A.8., in St. John's Church, was greatly enjoyed by the many, people present. Bach's well-known "Prelude and Fugue'in A Minor" was played in a masterly fashion, with a triumph over all.technical dif; ficulties. "Grand Choreur in G Minor" (Hollins) was another item finely played. GuilmantV- "Sonata No. 1 in 'D Minor" was a very attractive work, and very gracefully played' wa." Handel's "Minuet" from "Berenice." Comositions .by Purcell, Gluck, Woledge, Hollins, and Schubert were included in a diversified programme which contained several operatic transcriptions as well as more legitimate organ numbers. Amongst the" former was the "Prize Song" from Wagner's "Die Meistersinger." Miss ■ Anne Bennie was the vdcalist who assisted. Her soprano voice was heard to advantage in "I will Extol Thee, O Lord" ' (Costa), ! and Finsuti's "Heaven and Earth."
