/APPOINTMENTS MADE
'""The Minister of Finance > (the Rt. Eton. J. G. Coates) announced today {that /under section 41, of the Reserve ißank of New Zealand Act^lOSS, he had (appointed the two following qualified (accountants to be the first auditors of ithe Bank:—
Mr. John Leslie Griffin, of Clarke, Menzies, Griffin, and Ross, Wellington; and
Mr.', Donald Gordon Johnston, of Watkins,. Hull; Wheeler, and Johnston, Wellington.
Mr. Coates pointed out that the auditors /would hold ' office until the first ordinary general meeting of shareholders, ana that thereafter two auditors would be appointed annually at a general meeting of shareholders. The legislation also provided that no director orsofficer of the Reserve. Bank should, during his tenure of, office as such, :be qualified for appointment or to hold office as an auditor of the Bank, and that no person shouia be qualified for any such appointment who would not, be qualified «for appointment as auditor of a company incorporated under the Companies Act. Mr. Griffin was born at Nelson in 1892 and was educated at Nelson College and Victoria University College, taking his B.Com. degree in 1916. He was president'of the New Zealand Society of Accountants in 1929.. In 1932 he sat as a member of the National Expenditure Adjustment Commission.
■_ Mr: Johnston is a well-known Wellington accountant, and is a. member of the Royal Commission on- Native Affairs, which is now sitting.
