DOCTOR NEARLY DROWNED
HELD UNDER WATER IN
RIVER
STDSTEY, May-28.
Dr. F. V. Munrqi Government Medical Officer at Gloucester, on the North. Coast, 'had a terrifying experience with a powerful man he was conveying to hospital for treatment for' epilepsy, when his patient ran amuck and attempted to drown him in the/Manning River. ' .
Dr. "Manio, was driving a car with the patient alongside, and four farm employees accompanying them. 'Suddenly the patient, who weighed eighteen -stone, induced ,the doctor'to stop the car, upon which he seized <him and carried him bodily as though ho was an infant, to tho river, waded in, and held him under water. '
T.he. other men rushed to the scone, but wer,e unable to pit their individual strength against that of the maniac. They jthejeforo hurled stones, one of which 'found its mark, and the maniac fell, -releasing his hold on the' doctor. Immediately the men dragged the pair ,f ronv the water.
Dr. Munro is in a serious condition, while his patient is suffering from a fractured skull. ' .
