TOWN HALL TOWER

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —The correspondent "JJ.S." comments on tho Town jHall" parapet trouble. I agree"with him that ifcwould be a lot-more expensive to. rebnild the tower in f erro-concrete" or steel frame, but wo would: still retain our" town clock as it is. After all, there are many buildings that have "superfluous overhangings" in much more congested areas. There is something impressive about our-.Gity Hall that we surely do not want to r lose sight of. To quote tho words of the correspondent, we would be reducing the Gity Hall to. the unpretentiousness of a wool.store if the tower were taken away. It .is said we have no pride in our city, but maybe we have become just a little jbit tired of 'boosting ourselves. —I am, '' ' VALENTINE.
