SUCCESSFUL PARTY
NGAIO PLUNKET SOCIETY
The Ngaio branch of the Plunket Society held a highly successful children's .party in the Ngaio Town Hall recently. Over 120 children and many parents and friends were present.
Balloons, butterflies, fern fronds, and flowers, kewpies, and coloured lights all helped to change the hall into a fairyland, making a charming background for the many colourful fancy costumes. These lacked nothing in originality and variety, and included "Mickey and Minnie Mouse,' 1 "All Blacks," "Gangsters,".-'? Blue Bird," and "Work Basket," and,a"Pluuket Baby."
The programme of games, songs, and dances was- successfully carried out by the committee and friends, the conduct of the children throughout being most exemplary. . *
Special items were rendered by little Monica and Anne Macdonald, who sang, "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf ?" Master Peter Lea, who recited" a popular humorous numbery "Always Wash Behind Your Ears''; the two little Misses Casey, who, in period • costume, danced the Minuet. Two pupils of Miss Kathleen O'Brien also contributed to the entertainment. Master Alexander Grant, in national costume, cleverly danced the Eussian dance, "Pre-pak," and Miss Alys Cameron, gracefully executed an operatic dance.
Each child received a paper hat during the simple but delicious supper^ which concluded a very happy evening.
