INSURANCE BUILDING

CONTRACT

(To the Editor.)

Sir,—l was interested to read in your paper some days back that the tenders received for the Government Life Insurance were considered too high for the contract, as specified, to be proceeded with; I also understand that tenderers have been notified of this and their deposit cheques returned. It is now a matter of conjecture amongst the contractors, sub-contractors, and many interested parties amongst, the general public as to what will be done now in connection with this building. It is obvious that any plans and specifications which are "subjected to extensive modifications virtually constitute a brand-new contract, and it would be of considerable interest to the public to learn at this stage what it is proposed to do in connection with tho construction of the Government Life Insurance Department building.—l am etc.,
