PROTECTION SOCIETY
WORK STILL INCREASING
The committee of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children met at the offices in Customhouse Quny recently, when reports wore given by committee members of the work they had done while the secretary was away on holiday.
jSlcsdames Korman Jones, Dallard, Harley Brown, Johnson, Fordo, D. Coutts, J. O'Shea, and Peryman had'all taken, office duty, and had leceived eases and dealt with them. They had also - attended the Magistrate's Court on Mondays. Thanks were expressed by the chairman (Mrs. M. H". Chatfield, J.P.) for the good work done, 1 and plans were niade for the ensuing weeks. Special thanks wcro.tendered to"* Mrs. J. D. Sieywright for tho bridge party given by her for tho benefit of tho funds of the.society. Tho chairman reported that a very kind offer of help had come from a friend who was prepared to give a delightful day out in the country at a later date when the weather improves. It was hoped that this might be worked up into quite a largo fiinetiqn, "as the attractions offered are so many. Mention was made of the raffle for. a beautifully dressed doll, and Mrs. D. Coutts was - ttianlced for a generous gift to be used for a competition.
