LAUNDRY BURGLED
MUCH TROUBLE OVER A SAFE

AUCKLAND, This Day. , An audacious burglary/was carried out last -night at th© premises of a laundry company in Sussex Street. . The burglars levered a sliding < door off its rails in order to gain entrance, and then carried a smaH'safo from the 'office and down' a flight of six steps into the factory..,. They could...have been seen by, any passer-by through a- glass window. They removed tho safe 160 feet across the factory floor, using a truck for the .purpose' and then carried it down into the electric " fuse room, which has a concrete floor. There they burst it open with. an explosive, removed tho money it 'contained, and departed through the back door. While they were in the office they ransacked every drawer and ' strewed the contents on the floor. The safe contained only petty cash, about £ 5 in all.
