WOMEN ATHLETES
FEATHERSTON MEETING
With the exception of Miss E. Gibbs, of Masterton, the Wellington provincial 100 yards ladies' athletic champion, there was no other competition offering for the five wome,n athletes from Wellington who made^tho trip to Featherston by motor-car with Mr. C. A. Willis, secretary of the- Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre, on Saturday afternoon, to compete at a sports meeting there. Other Wairarapa girls were expected to take part in the-meeting, but unfortunately they did not put in an appearance.
There were two women's races, 100 yards and 75 yards, and both were won by Miss Gi.bbs. Of the.Wellington girls, Miss D. Hurley, with a start of five yards, was second in the 100 yards, and Miss E. Blatherwick was third. In the 75 yards race, Miss Hurley (4 yards) again was second, and Miss Blatherwick third.
