SPIKED BY JUMPER
ACCIDENT AT SPORTS
An unfortunate accident occurred during the progvesj^of: tho intermediate high jump at tho inter-Biblo Class sports meeting at Kelburu Park on Saturday afternoon. One- of the competitors struck and broke the cross-bar and knocked down one of the jumping standards, alongside which was standing Mr. Tom Messer, a V.M.C.A. member, who was assisting in the management of the event. The jumper and 1 he hig'i jump standard fell on Mr. Messer. A big hole was torn in his trousers and he received a bad gash in his loft thigh— caused apparently by spikes in the jumper's shoes —which necessitated his removal from the ground, for medical attention.
