HUTT AND ORIENTAL

Surprisingly good form was shown by Hutt in their match with Oriental at the Hutt Recreation Ground. The town team put up. quite a good showing, but as the play progressed it became apparent that the Hutt combination was already a force of some account, the backs working with fine understanding and their ability to penetrate being very marked. Lilburne was always a source of danger to the opposition, his form in particular being impressive. Most of the •others, however, combined to make Hutt a hot proposition on the day, with ■ Stevenson operating effectively as a rover. Oriental had numerous opportunities, but-only one was turned to account. The ability .to top off such promising movements as were not nipped in the bud early by the opposition was lacking ■ A tremendous amount of work fell upon Ritchie at full-back for Oriental, and it was carried out splendidly. Nea!, the ex-Poneke back, was unable to ;)lay for Hutt on Saturday.

The teams' were: —Hutt: Jarman, Bail, Hansen, Nccs, Killeen, Lilburne, Spencer, Wilton, Collision, Saulbrey, Peck, Roberts, Barry, Neal, Stevenson. Oriental: Ritchie, Baldwin, A. Ramsay, Coxan, Siddells, Hallam, Kelly, Grinlington, I. Ramsay, Tasker, Perrett, Fry, Meadows, Orchard, Collinge. Pelvin, Powell, Dunshoa.

Tries for Hutt were scored by Noes (3), Hanson (2), Lilburne (2), and Roberts (1). Lilburne and Wilson each converted two tries. Perrett scored for Oriental. The final score was: —Hutt, 32; Oriental, 3.
