In the Roehampton professional golf tournament semi-finals, Lacey boat Perry, Hand 2, and AVhitepmbc beat Kenyon, 4 and 2. In the final, Whitcombe beat Laccy, 7 and' 5.
Roehampton, the first ■ important professional golf tournament of tho season, finished as it began with remarkable figures. Whitcoinbe took the load oarly in the final, and turned for homo 3 up with a score of 37 to -10. He made certain of- tho match by winning the next four in 2, 3, 3, 3- to Lacey'a .4, 4, 4, 4. The earlier rounds provided great thrills. Tho biggest surprise was the defeat of King, hero of tho qualifying stages. In the morning he had an astonishing victory. Lacey had a great day. He defeated Mitchell in the morning and Cotton in Iho afternoon after a desperate affair ending at tho -nineteenth.
