THE WAIHI REPORT
The-following information has boon cabled to' the London oflice of the Waihi Gold jUiniug Company, Ltd.:— . No. .5 level.—North branch of Martha lode: Driving vest on the- north skle of the horse of country rock the next 4Et assays 12s Od a ton; 4ft of,reef is exposed with the north wall in hand. We have widened on the south side of horse of country 'rock from 470 to 480 ft west and in the- face there is a mixture of quartz and country 3ft wide, assaying 3s 3d a ton. .. Driviug north-east the next 4ft assays- 5s a ton. The north wall is in hand. • CHARLESTON. The Charleston Sluicing Company (Buller) reports that for the period ended March' 17 a total of 20oz 18dwt was washed up. Of this amount l(ioz were secured in one week, water being very short during the second week. It was expected that when the weather broke there would be no more dry spells for the remainder of the year. GOLCONDA. Golconda, Thames, reports that during last week drive, on main reef going towards slide advanced 6ft, total 06ft from shaft. Reef now more compact and country good on both walls. There are several stringers on hangingwall side, and reef itself has a very promising appearance. The -cross-cut into hangingwall advanced 4ft,' total 21ft. Reef formation cut last week proved to be 3ft in width, and is composed of hard white quartz carrying a lot of silica and a little iron pyrites. Formation is bigger on iloor of drive and looks more promising on eastern' end going towards ninin slide.
