FIRE IN HAT MILLS
SYDNEY, March 29. A fire in Merrett's hat mills, Surrey Hills, did damage to the extent of £5000. The roof fell in on the gutted upper floor. Machinery iv the lower storeys and stock suffered severely from water.
About 100 employees got out/safely, but adjoining premises were in danger for a time owing, to fears that the fae,tory_ walls would collapse.
