(Special to the "Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Autumn.Meeting of the Canterburyl JocSay Club will be held on Monday and Tuesday. Following on heavy rain earlier in. the'week the weather cleared ou Thursday, and the course.is'now in wonderful order. ..Good fields have been, attracted for niost of the events on the first day, and! the prospects for keen racing are excellent. •

It is probable that only three k'oi-ses will contest the Champagne Stakes, but as* they are the outstanding South Island juveniles, no more are required. Synagogue has beaten Variant twice, by very narrow margins, and there is a prospect of Variant's turning the tables this time. Custodian;was in front of )both the others inthe Middle Park Plate. He/was receiving a, lot of weight, but he has improved sincevthen, so he may be. well in the fight on Monday. ■ -:;

Silver King looks like being a warm favourite for the Great. Easter. He has won six races on end, and he is at the top of his form. 'Croupier has shown signs of improvement ■ recently, and .may provide a surprise. The brilliant, Diatomous may find the final furlong hard. Hurlingham should be: benefited by his two races at , Oamaru. Great Star will be handicapped by lack of racing this season. Copyist is very we']], but he has done best lately oil straight courses. Provided he goes kindly, however, he will be in the picture. CranFord has consistent form to commend him. The Masquerader will be dangerous, as he is just coming to his best. Gaysome has been galloping brilliantly and should run well. Ranelagh is in great order, but may not show his best fora light lad. Four of the Great Easter field are in the. (3re»fc .Autumn Handicap, and sis other candidates for that race will provide a'aood contest in the Sockburn Handicap.
