GOOD LAMB DEMAND
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received a cable from its London office, dated March 28, advising approximate average prices realised for the week, with those of the previous week shown in parentheses as follows:—New Zealand sheep: Canterbury and North Island selected crossbred wethers and maiden ewes, 48/56, 5 3-8 d(5 3-8 d); 57/64, 5d (sd); 65/72, 4 5-8 d (4%d); North Island, 48/56, 5 3-8 d(5 3-8 d); 57/04, 5d (sd); 05/72,. 4%d (4%d);, ewes, 48/uuder, 4 l-8d {PAA); 48/64, 3 5-8 d (3%d); 65/72, 3%d (3 3-8 d). New Zealand frozen veal: Not quoted. • Lamb market: Remains.very firm, especially for lightweights; consumption satisfactory. . , Mutton market: Lightweight wethers steady; heavyweight wethers weaker. Ewes easier, but lower prices improving demand.
Beef market: Quiet, demand slow owing to low prices of Argentine chilled beef.
New .Zealand porker pigs: Lightweights easier owing to heavier supplies, but trade good. New Zealand bacouer pigs: Market steady and unchanged.
