The heavy rain that was general, over the whole :province has stopped, and the floods in the north have receded, making the coastal route to Kaikoura available for traffic. The inland route, however, will not be safe for motor traffic for a few days. . .'
Service cars haddifficultyin getting through by tho inner routo yesterday owing to tho Mason and Conway rivers being in high flood. Cars were ablo to .get through today, but, great r care was needed, as big rocks and stones were lying on tho road.
